Sgt. Bernard Jarvis, Robin Hood Rifles, Killed in Action 30th June 1917

Sgt. Bernard Jarvis, 1/7th (Robin Hood Rifles) Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, was killed in action 30th June 1917. Initially reported missing, his death was confirmed by a family notice published on 30th March 1918.

“JARVIS. - Missing since June 30th, 1917, now reported killed Sergt. Bernard Jarvis, Sherwood Foresters, dearly beloved husband of Emily Jarvis. They miss him most who loved him best. - From his sorrowing wife, and mother in Canada.” [1]

He was the 31 year-old son of George and Jane Jarvis; husband of Emily Elizabeth Burley (formerly Jarvis), of 65 Martin Street, St. Ann's Well Road, Nottingham.

His body was never identified and he is, therefore, commemorated on the Arras Memorial
