“THE CITIZEN ARMY.
“STRENGTH OF NOTTM. AND NOTTS. REGIMENT.
“Interesting figures giving the present state of the Nottingham and Notts. Citizen Army appear in the orders just issued by the regimental commandant. Col. Sir Lancelot Rolleston, K.C.B., D.S.O., who in taking up the command expresses the hope that all ranks will strive to make the regiment worthy of the county. It is made up of six battalions, and the commandant is assisted by a County Committee under the presidency of the Duke of Portland, the respective totals being: East Nottingham, 973; West Nottingham, 949; Bassetlaw, 323; Mansfield, 375; Newark, 239; Rushcliffe, 787; grand total, 3,646. There is a probability of an independent battalion being raised at Mansfield.”
