Thomas James Atkinson Commissioned

Thomas James Atkinson, a former sergeant in the Robin Hood Rifles, otherwise 1/7th Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, received his commission into the Leicestershire Regiment on 30th June 1917.

The son of the station master of Hucknall's Great Northern Railway Station, his brother Leonard Hobster Atkinson was killed when his ship, the pre-dreadnought battleship H.M.S. Bulwark, exploded whilst taking on ammunition at Sheerness on 26th November 1914.
