“ALLEGED ATTEMPTED LOCAL BANK FRAUD.

“A labourer named Robert John Brown, of no fixed residence, was remanded at the Shire Hall to-day [1st July 1916] on a charge of fraudulently endeavouring to obtain £200 from William Albert Spring, manager of the Union of London and Smith's Bank Hucknall, by means of a forged cheque.

“When charged, prisoner replied: "I know nothing about the matter."

“He was remanded.”
