“FATAL TRAM ACCIDENT IN NOTTINGHAM.

“A tramcar accident, which was unfortunately attended with fatal consequences, occurred in Radford-road, Nottingham, yesterday [1st July 1917], the victim being a five-years old child named Edith King, whose home:is at 3, Tennyson-terrace, Hawksley-road.

“It appears that as a car going in the direction of Basford approached the Grand Theatre the child suddenly darted in front of it, and though the driver applied the brakes and did everything in his power to avert the accident he was powerless to prevent it. The youngster was dragged underneath the car, and when extricated Dr. Ferraby, who was called, pronounced life extinct. The body was removed the Hyson Green mortuary.

'Nottingham Evening Post', 2nd July 1917.
