Walter Hind, Killed in Action 1st July 1917

Pte. Walter Hind, 2nd Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, was reported missing on 1st July 1917. He had served on the Western Front since 19th September 1914, and his wife reported that he had been confirmed as having been killed in action on 26th March 1918.

“HIND. - Missing July 1st, 1917, now reported killed in action same date, Private Walter Hind, Sherwood Foresters. Three years' service. R.I.P. - Silently mourned by wife and children.” [1]

He was the 32 year-old son of Harry and Sarah Hind; husband of Ada Hind, of 9 Brunswick Square, William Street, Nottingham, and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
