“NO CHEAPER WHISKEY.
“From July 1st whiskey is to be reduced by order of the Liquor Control Board to 25 per cent. under proof, and it has been suggested that this reduction in strength may be accompanied by a reduction in the price of whiskey.
“In an interview yesterday [15th June 1916] a well-known whiskey distiller stated that no action in regard to a change in the price had been taken by the distillers. Large stocks of whiskey 20 per cent. under proof were held by distillers and the licensed trade, and they wished this stock to be consumed before starting upon whiskey at 25 per cent. under proof, otherwise confusion would be caused.”
