“NEW BACON PRICES.
“CHOICEST CUTS NOT TO EXCEED 2s. 4d. A POUND.
“An Order fixing the maximum prices for bacon and ham, wholesale and retail, was issued last night [3rd July 1918], and at once comes into force. A list of the retail prices must be exhibited by every shopkeeper, and should be consulted by the customer.
“The highest price that can be charged for bacon is 2s. 4d. per lb., and for ham 2s. per lb. Cooked ham or bacon without skin and bone, must not exceed 2s. 10d. per lb. Lard is to be sold at 1s. 8d. per lb.”
