Cpl. George William Lane, Special Brigade Royal Engineers

Cpl. George William Lane, 4th Battalion Special Brigade, Royal Engineers, died as a result of gas poisoning at No. 20 Casualty Clearing Station on 29th June 1916. He is buried in Warlincourt Halte British Cemetery, Saulty.

“LANE. – In proud and loving memory of our dear son and brother, Corpl. G. W. Lane, Special Brigade, R.E., who died of gas poisoning June 29th, 1916. – From mother, father, and sister, Bulwell Hall Park, Nottingham.

“LANE. – In memory of Corpl. G. W. Lane, died of gas poisoning June 29th, 1916. – From Mr., Mrs., and Nellie Baxter.” [1]

He was the 23 year-old son of George and Susannah Lane, of Bulwell Hall Park, Nottingham.
